EMDR Intensives
-
Who This Is For
You have something specific you want to work on, and you'd rather not stretch it across a year
You've never done therapy and want to start with something focused rather than open-ended
You want a jump start, concentrated work up front, then weekly or as needed after
You've done therapy and understand your history, but something still hasn't shifted
Your schedule doesn't fit a standing weekly appointment. Shift workers, first responders, people who travel
You're already working with a therapist and want focused EMDR alongside that work
You're already my client and want to do concentrated work alongside our regular sessions
You're traveling from outside the area

Who This Isn't For
I'd rather tell you upfront than find out on the day.
An intensive isn't the right starting point if you're currently in crisis, or if you're hoping a single day will resolve years of complex trauma. Concentrated work is powerful, but it isn't a shortcut.
I'll talk through fit with you before we schedule anything. If an intensive isn't right for you right now, I'll say so.

How It Works
A brief call. Fifteen minutes, no charge. You tell me what's going on and we see whether an intensive makes sense.
Assessment session. Sixty to ninety minutes. We go through your history, identify what we're targeting, and make sure you have the resourcing to do concentrated work. This is also where we decide the format.
Scheduling and deposit. A 50% deposit holds your dates.
The intensive. We work in blocks with real breaks. You'll never be sent out the door mid-processing.
Closure and handoff. We finish with containment and a plan for integration. With your permission, I'll send a summary to your regular therapist.
Follow-up. One check-in session is included, usually a week or two afterward.

What is EMDR Intensive?
EMDR was originally designed for longer sessions. The 50-minute hour came from insurance billing, not from the research.
An intensive returns EMDR to something closer to its original format. Instead of spreading the work across months, we schedule extended blocks of time — half a day or a full day — and work through a target from start to finish.
The work itself is the same EMDR you'd get weekly. What changes is the container. Less time spent re-entering the material each session, more time actually processing, and less chance of leaving something half-open between appointments.
Research shows intensives can be as effective as weekly EMDR, with people reaching the same place in a much shorter timeframe.
